Situated in the inner Melbourne suburb of Kensington, the nearest Bowens is just in North Melbourne. Scott says this is particularly handy because it’s close to the CBD contracting office and the city, where many of their projects are located.
“Bowens is our major supplier for all timber products”, says Scott. “The pricing is competitive and it’s useful to have our own representative Bruce, to follow up orders and deliveries and keep it all running smoothly.”
Although CBD contracting has only been established since 2005, Scott says he has long been a fan of Bowens, which he used for many years while he was working as a sub-contractor prior to setting up CBD Contracting. With a team of twenty staff and various projects on-the-go at any one time, Scott says he speaks with Bruce several times a week.
“He is particularly helpful with sourcing products and timber that are not normally kept in stock.” As North Melbourne was one of the Bowens stores to undergo recent renovations, Scott says the store and yard facilities are fantastic and a vast improvement. “I’ve used Bowens products on a range of projects, from timber supply, pre-fabricated frames and trusses, to window supplies.
The truss plant provides a service that is second to none.” As CBD contracting continues to grow and keep up with a high level of demand in the building, shop-fitting and commercial carpentry front, Scott says they will continue to use Bowens as our major timber supplier.
