Federal Government Rebate Free* Insulation

Bowens is a registered provider of a new scheme being introduced by the Australian Government, with the main objective being to insulate 2.7 million homes with ceiling insulation by the year 2012

Below are some important facts regarding the offer:

  • The Homeowner Insulation Program offers ceiling insulation worth up to $1,200 to owner-occupiers.
  • The program targets homeowners who are currently uninsulated, or have ceiling insulation with an R-value of 0.5 or less.
  • If the total cost of installation is less than $1,200 there will be no more for the homeowner to pay. This will be the case for most homeowners, as the average cost to insulate a home is estimated to be $1,200.

A new process starts on 1 July 2009

On 1 July 2009 the main phase of the Homeowner Insulation Program will be commencing. Some key features include:

  • supply and install must be carried out by registered installers only
  • householders and landlords will be able to arrange installation of insulation without having to make any payment in most cases.

From 1 July 2009, if the cost of insulation and installation is $1,200 inc. GST or less, eligible persons will make no payment. 

Eligibility

Who is eligible?

You are eligible for ceiling insulation if you:

  • are the owner and occupier (primary place of residence) of the dwelling; and
  • have permission from the other owner/s to apply; and
  • obtain the approval of the body corporate, if applicable; and
  • don't already have ceiling insulation or have ceiling insulation that is deemed as having negligible effectiveness (an R-value of 0.5 or less); and
  • are an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over; and
  • have not been granted assistance under the solar hot water rebate program since the rebate was increased to $1,200 on 3 February 2009.
