Restrictions Update – Master Builders Association Victoria

As many of you will have heard this morning, the Victorian State Government announced a 7-day state-wide lockdown. This circuit breaker lockdown will begin from midnight tonight, Thursday, 27 May. However, we have received confirmation from the Acting Premier’s Private Office that the building and construction industry will remain open with no restrictions.

Since the last circuit-breaker lockdown, Master Builders Victoria (MBV) has worked tirelessly, with others, behind the scenes to ensure that the State Government learned lessons from the last circuit breaker lockdown. We are encouraged that the State Government has trusted our industry to continue its great work, remain safe and stay open.

Further information can be found on page four of the Acting Premier’s statement here. An overview of the new restrictions is listed below.

We know this is may be a concerning time for everyone, so please take care of yourselves and each other. If you need more information, please contact us on (03) 9411 4555 or at [email protected].

Our high-level meetings with Government will continue this afternoon and, as always, MBV will continue to keep members up to date as and when information becomes available.

Additional Information

There will be only five reasons to leave your home:

  • Shopping for necessary goods and services,
  • Authorised work or permitted education,
  • Exercise, a 2-hour limit, with one other person,
  • Caregiving, compassionate, and medical reasons,
  • To receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

Restrictions:

  • Face masks must be worn at all times outside of your home.
  • Shopping and exercise must be conducted with a 5 km radius of your home.
  • No visitors to your home, except for an intimate partner.

If you or a team member has been at an exposure site, please action the following:

  • Team members that have been at any of the exposure sites should follow the DHHS instructions to get tested, and then isolate pending further instruction, or quarantine for 14 days.
  • Ensure that all other team members are completing the site declaration daily, declaring that they have not been to a listed exposure site.
  • Ensure that contact tracing is being done on site, electronic or otherwise. In the unlikely but possible event that any of the workforce tests positive from being at one of the exposure sites, DHHS will require this information from you, and it will speed up the contract tracing process if you have it ready to go.
  • Communicate these steps to team members via your usual means, such as toolbox meetings.
  • Encourage anyone who has symptoms or who has concerns to get tested.
