HomeBuilder Update

The HomeBuilder grant ends on 31 March and it is critical members working to complete contracts keep track of the key dates to ensure your clients remain eligible.

HIA also recognises that the unexpected increase in uptake of the HomeBuilder grant, combined with the tight timeframes for commencement, is putting industry wide pressure on availability of labour and materials causing price increases across the building supply chain.

HIA has developed a range of resources to assist members to manage delays and price increases during these unprecendented times.

Application timeframes and documentation

Applications for the HomeBuilder grant close 14 April.

Applications must be made through the appropriate state or territory lodgement portal.

A copy of the contract signed by both parties on or before 31 March 2021 must be uploaded by the closing date.

Other required documentation can be uploaded at a later date, but no later than 30 April 2023.

Commencement, delays and price increases

In order to be eligible for the grant you must commence building work within six months of signing the contract.

HIA recognises that delays in the supply of building materials from both local and overseas sources, combined with the unexpected increase in uptake of the HomeBuilder grant, is adding significant pressure on the availability of labour and causing price increases across the building supply chain.
