About The Margaret Hickey Award 

The Margaret Hickey Award is proudly organised and celebrated by Bowens, in line with International Women’s Day 2022. This award recognises women who have overcome the barriers of working within the building and construction industry to succeed.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominees who have worked within a trade in the construction and building industry for at least a year.  
  • Professional females who show exceptional leadership skills in trades including building & construction, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping, cabinet making & more. 


  • Demonstrate leadership excellence in the construction industry
  • A positive role model for their colleagues and their organisation
  • Contribution or innovation to a specific project in their field (support with evidence)
  • Applicants may apply Nationwide
  • Have overcome obstacles to achieve success or have gone beyond their duties to create changes.


  • Win a trip to the Gold Coast and a ticket to the HIA National Conference, which includes flights, transport and accommodation valued at over $4,000
  • Featured on the front page of Bowens Builders Bulletin Publication and sent out to over 14,000 readers
  • Presented on Bowens social media channels as the winner, social media channels total to more than 6,000 followers
  • The announcement of the winner will be presented at the annual Bowens Women in Trade Event on March 25, 2022 (approx. 250 attendees)
  • Mentoring session and lunch with one of our ambassadors (Stef Apostolidis or Matthew Menichelli).
