This product contains a high level of finely divided zinc in the dry film, which prevents oxygen and moisture from reach the steel substrate. The primer's zinc oxidises instead of the metal it has been applied to, providing sacrificial protection against rust and corrosion.

Before applying Dulux® Metalshield® Cold Galv Primer, ensure your surface is properly prepared with the proper cleaning , sanding , and filling products . This product will chalk on exterior exposure but this will not detract from its protective properties. If you would like a cleaner appearance, this primer can be used under Dulux® chlorinated rubber or acrylic topcoat paints . It is not recommended for use with alkyd topcoats. To apply this paint, check out the Dulux® Cold Galv Thinner , as well as Bowens' range of spray guns . Brushes and rollers may also be used in small areas only. This product is also available in an aerosol spraypak .
