WorkSafe: Health and Safety Month

Hear from experts and leaders in workplace safety

October is Health and Safety Month and WorkSafe will visit 25 locations across Victoria, from Warrnambool to Bendigo. Employers and workers can hear from experts and leaders in workplace safety across the month.

The free, expert-led events will share information and advice, highlighting current trends and encouraging conversations about workplace safety. Registrations for all sessions are now open.

This year’s agenda includes: safer manual handling, support for injured workers, the role of health and safety reps, and managing mental health risks at work.

Tradies can enjoy a complimentary breakfast while brushing up on construction safety at industry gatherings in Ballarat, Hamilton, Warragul, and Thomastown. These events spotlight best practices, offering valuable insights to keep worksites secure. There will also be a Q&A session for participants to raise concerns about workplace health and safety.

Former Cats captain turned commentator Cameron Ling is on board again. He is hosting a Business Owner’s Breakfast at Dandenong. Plus, he will hold events in Hamilton, Horsham, Ballarat, Shepparton, Geelong, and Bendigo.

The month will conclude with a week-long series of webinars running from 28 October to 1 November. Some of the construction related webinars include:

• High-risk crystalline silica work and ban of engineered stone
• Workplace safety in Victoria: challenges and priorities
• Manual Handling Basics: Do’s and don’ts of risk control
• Safe use of elevating work platforms
• Preventing exposure to welding fumes
• Supporting and supervising apprentices

WorkSafe Chief Executive Officer Joe Calafiore, who will present a webinar on 29 October, encouraged employers and workers to head online to view the full program of events “This year’s program is packed with a range of sessions that will appeal to people across industries looking for the latest information and advice on workplace health and safety – there really is something for everyone,” Mr Calafiore said.
