WorkSafe: Tools, Tips & Resources
New ‘Safe Sites’ video series puts safety front and centre
Built by tradies, for tradies, the new Safe Sites Together video series brings real workers, real stories and practical safety messages into the spotlight.
The series includes 14 videos covering key site risks – from mobile phone distractions to scaffolding. All videos are free to watch or download and focus on real behaviours and risks seen on site every day. They’re ideal for inductions, toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and team discussions. They’re a great tool for starting conversations, bringing teams together, and improving safety onsite.

Safety from all angles
Staying safe onsite starts with focusing on the highest-risk tasks, the ones that are still leading to the most serious injuries and fatalities.
This month, WorkSafe is sharing practical tools and resources to help you manage risks from all angles and prevent incidents before they happen.
Construction pocket guide

The construction pocket guide is a practical tool to help manage health and safety risks on small construction sites. It is designed for small businesses with up to 20 workers and self-employed tradies.
It includes easy-to-use information and guidance on common site risks and outlines your obligations under Victorian OHS laws.
It’s also a handy reference for subcontractors and workers, helping everyone understand their role in keeping the site safe. It’s a must-have resource for small construction businesses.

Manual handling posters
Manual handling is the number one cause of serious injury in construction. If you’re lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, carrying, or moving something or someone, you’re doing manual handling tasks, and when repeated, it can become hazardous if not managed properly.
Hazardous manual handling can cause injuries known as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). These include:
- Sprains and strains
- Back injuries
- Soft tissue injuries to the wrist, arms, shoulders, neck or legs
- Hernias
- Chronic pain.
Often brushed off as ‘just part of the job’, MSDs can have significant and long-term impacts on workers’ physical and mental health. They can also end careers.

WorkSafe has created a range of resources to help you identify, reduce and control manual handling risks on site.
