Step-Free Access to the Home: This highlights the importance of addressing steps or level changes at entry points, ensuring there are alternative routes such as ramps or lifts where necessary.

Wider Doorways and Hallways: Wider doorways and hallways help accommodate wheelchairs and walkers, making it easier for those with reduced mobility to live independently. This includes minimum 870mm wide entrance doors and minimum 1,000mm wide hallways.

Additional Circulation Space: The update requires sufficient floor space in bathrooms and toilets to allow for wheelchair turning circles.

Wall Reinforcing for Future Grabrails: Reinforced walls in bathrooms and toilets are to facilitate future grabrails to easily accommodate changing mobility needs over time.

At Least One Step Free Shower: This ensures that residents can access the shower independently as they age or if they require mobility aids.
